Long Pond is a  community in Monroe County in the Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania.  And yes, it is a part of the Appalachian Mountains. It is a sparsely populated, rural area. with a population of 4,161 people.   Long Pond is a big vacation destination. A nice amount of the town’s population is seasonal.  There are many people who own second homes and only live there during the vacation season. When the vacation season ends, Long Pond’s population drops significantly,  and that’s okay.  The year-long residents enjoy the quieter times of the year.  The distance between New York and Long Pond is 80 miles
